A Warm Welcome to Recent UCLA Law Grad: Lauren Partch

Bick Law LLP is delighted to announce the hiring of recent UCLA law graduate, Lauren Partch, who will be joining the firm as a Law Clerk until her California bar admission. As a native of Phoenix, Arizona, Partch’s love of the outdoors, as well as her draw to climate advocacy, have impassioned her desire to pursue a career in environmental law. Having lived in numerous cities, both domestically and internationally, Partch carries a perspective that reflects the environmental considerations that are felt not only in California but far beyond. Between her extensive volunteer experiences, passion for advocating on behalf of others, and natural curiosity for the environment, Partch will undoubtedly prove to be an outstanding representative of the ideals of Bick Law LLP.

Partch attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota for her undergraduate studies, where she majored in Cognitive Science. Aside from her academic achievements and playing on her college’s national championship-winning rugby team, Partch still found time to serve her community through volunteering. She found her role in a local organization that provided services for sexual and domestic violence survivors: The Hope Center. It was through this experience that Partch witnessed, first hand, the capacity that attorneys hold in evoking change for others. Partch worked closely with the organization’s attorneys, attending court hearings regularly and working with victims to remedy their situations through legal counseling. Upon graduating from Carleton College, Partch served as an Americorps fellow, then transferred her passion for helping others to Madrid, Spain, where she taught English in a local school while spending time on the southern coast of the beautiful Iberian Peninsula. Through picking up the skills to surf and engaging with the coastal habitats of Southern Spain, Partch gained a newfound sense of wonder for the planet’s diverse landscapes. It was through this interaction, and her bearing witness to human impacts on coastal habitats, that Partch found her calling in environmental law.

Partch’s decision to pursue a law degree at UCLA was inspired by the outstanding reputation of its environmental faculty, as well as its robust curriculum and, naturally, the prospect of living in sunny Southern California. Partch recently acquired her scuba diving certification, thus having access to a scuba-conducive climate and shore is a must. With California laying claim to some of the most stringent environmental legislation and legal precedent, Partch found her courses at UCLA to be unique and engaging – the most noteworthy classes being energy and ocean/coastal law. Through her participation in legal clinics, including legal research and drafting legislation to address current and pressing environmental state issues, , Partch gained mastery over sections of the most critical environmental policies: Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and CEQA, to name a few. She is excited to continue employing her legal knowledge while at Bick Law LLP, as well as further her understanding of California environmental law.

Partch will formally begin her role at Bick Law LLP on Monday, February 28. She is delighted to be joining the team, where she will be working closely with some of the most experienced and knowledgeable attorneys in the environmental legal field. Partch plans on focusing her attention on litigation, but is enthusiastic about comprehending all aspects of conflict resolution, including arbitration. Her prior clinical experiences in drafting legislation, policy research, and community outreach will certainly serve her well in this role. Partch additionally hopes to engage with the environmental law community on a deeper level through involvement with the Orange County Women Lawyers Association and the Environmental Law Section of the California Lawyers Association. There is much in store for this bright, young attorney – we are excited to be a part of her journey.
